Google PlayAn Amazon driver has gone viral for his impeccable worth ethic after he delivered a package to someone’s door during a tense police standoff in North Carolina.
The moment was captured on TikTok, and shows the brave delivery driver calmly wandering past numerous Raleigh, North Carolina police cruisers to drop off the package at the presumed suspect’s door. A surprised officer then notices the worker and demands he stops before grabbing the package out of his hand and turning him away.
“Amazon hard at work,” the TikTok user said as they filmed, with other nearby officers commenting on the strange scene. “In the midst of a standoff, he’s going to deliver his package,” one said. The video has since amassed over 7 million views.
Two commenters claiming to be Amazon delivery drivers said that often they’d get in trouble if not all of their packages were delivered, with one saying: “it was either deliver the package or get fired so.”
While it was unclear what started the incident, The Daily Mail reports that Raleigh SWAT officers were engaged in a standoff with an armed suspect suffering from mental health distress for almost 24 hours. The man allegedly shot his 11-year-old son twice and ended up taking his own life. The boy survived and was eventually escorted to safety by police officers.
Cary Police Chief Terry Sult told the outlet that negotiators “did a remarkable job securing [the boy’s] release, then did another remarkable job trying to work on this individual.”
