Having toured together and worked on each other’s projects over the years, Homeboy Sandman and Quelle Chris have finally got together for an entire full-length album, Don’t Feed the Monster.
Produced entirely by Chris, the album saved Boy Sand’s life as he found solace in writing and recording while dealing with his issues with anxiety, difficulty sleeping and health challenges.
“Everyone talks about keeping it real. Sands keeps it fucking real,” Quelle says. “We cut songs simply because we didn’t want to carry or spread the negative spirits or energies that were attached to the songs when first created.”
On top of the album’s release, the duo also shared a Photo Rob-directed video for “Trauma,” a deeply personal record that finds Sandman recounting his early sexual experiences, abuse within the family, and how he’s started to work through these issues over the years.
