It seems that the more you hear about Pop Smoke, the more tragic his death feels.
The rapper will make his posthumous film debut in BOOGIE, which will mark the directorial debut of Eddie Huang (Fresh Off The Boat, Huang’s World). A film that follows an aspiring high school basketball star and titular character, Pop will portray Boogie’s on-court rival Monk.
“A lot of actors just don’t have the depth of emotion and experiences, but because of what Pop’s gone through, he has a tremendous well to draw from,” Huang said to The New York Times back in June 2020. “He gave me a thousand percent.”
The movie will be released on March 5, and will reportedly feature previously-unreleased music from Pop Smoke. A trailer can be seen below.
