With Los Angeles hosting the Super Bowl for the first time in roughly three decades, the NFL has decided to enlist in the services of some of the biggest hip hop artists on the planet for its annual halftime concert.

So, meet your Super Bowl LVI Halftime performers: Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Snoop Dogg. This is the end product of Pepsi, the NFL, and Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, which previously had the Weeknd perform in 2021 and Jennifer Lopez and Shakira perform in 2020.

According to Variety, Pepsi and the NFL have also joined together to support the launch of Regional School #1, “a magnet high school in South Los Angeles Central that is set to open for students next fall as part of the L.A. Unified School District. The high school is based on the USC Iovine and Young Academy, a program founded by Jimmy Iovine and Dre that will offer a unique educational model focused on the theme of Integrated Design, Technology, and Entrepreneurship.”

This is dope news to hear — no, it really is — but I definitely think that DeMarco Smith said it best on Twitter:

Dope but don’t let this distract you from the fact that a Superbowl this big is taking place at the new Sofi Stadium in Inglewood when the train ready. This is the seed that will be planted to officially shift the culture of the Wood to an LAX Hotspot and prep for 2028 Olympics. https://t.co/bZgT7R5lhS
