Google PlayThe only real way to solve a crime is with a celebrity guest by your side.
Netflix has unveiled the trailer for its upcoming comedy series Murderville, which features Will Arnett as a homicide detective teaming up with a different celeb each episode to get the job done. The guests aren’t given a script and must improvise until the end of the episode, when they have to guess who committed the muder. The show is molded after BBC3’s Murder in Successville, created by Andy Brereton and Avril Spary, per Variety.
Arnett’s character Terry Seattle can be seen coaching the celebrities in the new trailer, with the first six episodes starring Kumail Nanjiani, Annie Murphy, Conan O’Brien, Ken Jeong, Marshawn Lynch, and Sharon Stone. The main cast also includes Haneefah Wood, Lilan Bowden, and Phillip Smithey.
All of the guests can be seen in the absurd first Murderville trailer, and the stars seem to crack every now and then at Arnett’s humor. At one point, the Arrested Development alum even promises Lynch that they’re going to “catch this motherfucker.”
Arnett executive produces the series alongside showrunner Krister Johnson, as Marc Forman, Jonathan Stern, Peter Principato, Brian Steinberg. Tom Davis, Andy Brereton, and James De Frond are also listed as EPs in the Sony Pictures Television, Electric Ave, Abominable Pictures and Artists First-produced series.
In a recent interview with Liam Fox for Complex Canada, Arnett opened up about the current state of his career, and the balancing act he’s currently trying with all of his projects.
“To be honest, I’m always in a constant state of like, Uh, I’m too tired to do that. We’ve got this new Netflix show that we’ve been doing, then I come home at night and narrate and do voiceover stuff, and then I wake up early and do voiceover and then go to set,” Arnett said. “I wake up and I’m like, This is crazy, I’m going to collapse. But it’s also really great and, again I’m really grateful and appreciative, but I’m 51 and it would be nice to just retire. At the same time, the world would be like, ‘Great, go ahead and retire. We will forget about you anytime you want.’”
