TikTok User Posts Video of Man Threatening to Slit Her Throat in Union Square

A New York City woman is urging others to stay safe following a scary encounter that took place in broad daylight.

TikTok user @Shamsiaaaa shared a video last month in which she is seen being followed by a man who begins threatening her. The video begins with the woman walking in Union Square as an identified individual is seen right behind her, moving at a fast pace.

“I don’t feel safe because this grown man keeps following me,” she says in the clip, “and I got you on camera that you keep following me, and if you do something …”

The man, who is carrying a shoulder bag and what appears to be a takeout container, immediately threatens the woman with physical violence.

“Bitch I’ll knock you out …” he says. “How about that? Bitch, I’ll knock your fucking teeth out … I’ll slit your fucking throat. How about that?”

Shamsiaaaa claimed the incident began when she decided to sit down at a park to enjoy some sun. Shortly after, the woman claims she looked up from her phone a realized the man was staring at her.

“I was sitting and minding my business [and] he kept looking. He then asked me, ‘Ma’am are you OK?’ And I said, ‘Who me?’ Yeah, I’m OK.’”

Shamsiaaaa says that after she reassured the man she was doing fine, he continued to stare at her.

“I was paranoid,” she said in a follow-up video. “When he got up, something told me to get up, start walking, and don’t look back. I got up, I started walking, and I look back and I saw him following me. Then he comes to stand in front of me. So I move to the right, he moves to the right. I move to the left, he moves to the left.”

“He also said, ‘I’mma put a bullet through you,’ and he repeated that he’s gonna slit my throat. I was so scared,’” she recalled. “But I’m fine, Alhamdulillah (Praise be to God).”

Shamsiaaaa went on to thank her followers for showing her support over the past week. She also said that several of her followers told her the man was homeless and is frequently seen around the Union Square area.

It’s unclear if the woman reported the incident to police.
