2DopeRadio: Salute To J Dilla, Vol. 3

Today (Feb. 7) would have marked the 48th birthday of one James Dewitt Yancey, better known as Jay Dee and/or J Dilla. As many of us know, the prolific producer and rapper passed of a combination of a rare blood disease and lupus, robbing the music world of one of its most proliferative talents.

As the hip hop world celebrates his life and legacy throughout the month, I spun an all-Dilla set during my monthly streaming residence at Brooklyn’s Rise Radio. So, I felt it was only right if the DopeHouse honored him than by presenting that mix here.

At a little under two hours, I spun samples (Gap Mangione, Ahmad Jamal), party staples (Busta Rhymes, A Tribe Called Quest), instrumentals, R&B cuts (Janet Jackson, Erykah Badu), under-the-radar cuts (Four Tet, T-Love), blends and more.
