The artist formerly known as Kanye West is giving his fans some insight into what he’s going through, outside of the stadium-filling theatrics and revealing bars of Donda 2.

Taking to Instagram on Friday, Ye shared a lengthy poem titled “Divorce,” which he seemingly penned himself given the timeline of his own divorce with Kim Kardashian. Just two days prior to sharing the stanzas, Kardashian was declared legally single, and a judge granted her the ability to return to her maiden name, dropping the “West.”

“Divorce feels like full blown Covid. Divorce feels like your doctor don’t know shit,” Ye’s poem read. “Divorce feels like you’re walking on glass. Divorce feels like you’re running through a glass wall. Divorce feels like you’re being bullied in a class hall. Divorce feels like you’re getting beat up in the mall.”

The poem continued for several more lines, including some that pointed out that divorce felt like “your kids were snatched from your control,” “you’ve been shot,” are “barely breathing,” and are “suffocating.”

“Divorce feels like your teeth being pulled with pliers,” Ye shared. “Divorce feels like slower than paint and dryer. Divorce feels like nails in your hand. Divorce feels like walking in on your bride and your best man.”

While also opening up about the divorce during the song, Ye also shared some “best man” bars on Donda 2 cut “First Time In a Long Time.” During the song, he notes that in just one year he “lost my best man, and I lost my spouse,” seemingly referring to both Kim and his late friend and legendary fashion designer Virgil Abloh, who died of cancer in 2021. He also makes a nod to Abloh throughout the chorus of track “Louie Bags.”
