Judd Apatow is starting to roll out his first film in 2 years. And of course, it’s appropriately inspired by everything that’s happened since 2020.

On Saturday, Netflix unveiled the trailer for The Bubble, an ensemble comedy touching on what it’s like to make a movie during the COVID-19 pandemic, with help from actors in Karen Gillan, Pedro Pascal, Fred Armisen, Maria Bakalova, Keegan-Michael Key, Peter Serafinowicz, and plenty more.

The movie follows a cast of notable names as they film an in-movie production called Cliff Beasts 6: The Battle for Everest: Memories of a Requiem, as production gets halted. Netflix also shared a Cliff Beasts trailer—which has a bit of a Jurassic World edge to it— to coincide with the film-about-the-fake-film.

This will mark Apatow’s first film to be distributed by Netflix, as The 40-Year-Old Virgin, The King of Staten Island, and everything in between were all distributed by Universal, per Variety.

“I’m sure I’m going to try to make some projects that have smarter aspirations,” Apatow told IndieWire about the challenges of making a movie about the pandemic. “It’s definitely a complicated world right now. Art — drama and comedy — will need to reflect it. But not all the time. Sometimes you want to talk about what’s happening, and sometimes you want to provide people with an entertaining break from all the stressful things they’re experiencing, and I assume we’ll do both.”

Check out the trailer above, and poster below, before the film hits Netflix on April 1.
