A Burger King employee in Miami has been arrested for allegedly shooting a drive-thru customer.

NBC South Florida reports Shateasha Monique Hicks, 30, allegedly opened fire on a man Thursday afternoon at a Miami Gardens Burger King following an argument at the drive-thru window.

A witness told police that he overheard a verbal dispute between Hicks and the customer, who allegedly threw mayonnaise at Hicks before the shooting. Police said the customer began to drive off, at which point Hicks went to her car, grabbed a gun, then fired five rounds at the car as the man drove away.

“He was making faces at her through the car window, out here in the road, and that’s when he pulled in here and that just set her off,” the witness told WPLG News. “She started jumping up and down, ran outside and started shooting at him. He took off after that and then she got in her car and followed him.”

Officials said Hicks subsequently fled the scene in her own car before she was later arrested after police found the vehicle abandoned about a mile from her home. After discovering Hicks’ car, authorities found the gun in the vehicle’s floorboard.

Hicks faces a charge for discharging a firearm in public. After being held in jail overnight on a $1,000 bond, she was released on Friday. It’s unclear if the customer was injured in the shooting.

“We are horrified to learn of the events that unfolded at this location. This unacceptable behavior does not align with our brand values of safety and security,” a Burger King spokesperson said in a statement, per the New York Post. “Our franchisee is cooperating with local authorities. As this remains an ongoing investigation, we aren’t able to share additional details at this time.”
