Although he might not be a household name just yet, Sy Ari Da Kid remains one of the hardest working (and more talented) artists in the game. Fresh off a pandemic run that saw him release a handful of projects (both R&B and rap) in the last two years, the Bronx-bred, Atlanta-based artist is keeping his foot on the gas with the release of his latest album, The Shadow in the Shade.

“If you think about it, there are no shadows in the shade. It’s physically impossible. But you know that if you put light on something, a shadow will appear at some point,” Sy Ari explained to Zenger.

“I always felt like that’s what I was in the industry,” he continued. “I was right there, close enough. I’ve been around a lot of moments, big rap beefs, certain records getting written, people not knowing, the major artists getting all the spotlight, but the people around it don’t. I felt like I’ve always been that shadow in the shade. People tell me, I’m slept on. I’m just as good as the GOATs, but I don’t have the platform yet.”

Equipped with 21 tracks, the album is an all-out rap fest, jam-packed with heavy-hitters like Jadakiss (“Unbreakable Promises“), Lloyd Banks, Ransom, Benny the Butcher (“Press 0“), CyHi the Prynce, Raekwon, Big K.R.I.T., Mickey Factz, T.I. and more.

“This one is for the people, the underdogs,” Sy Ari adds. “All the true hip-hop fans that respect the creative process. All the special talented people that never get the spotlight they deserve because of how fake and biased the industry is. All of those incredible shadows stuck in the shade.”

Press play below and be sure to add the album wherever you get music.
