Buddy Returns with New Album, ‘Superghetto’

It’s been a minute since we’ve heard from Buddy, but the Compton rapper is officially back in action with his sophomore album, Superghetto.

“It’s more about the essence of growing up in the hood. I’m from there, so it’s in me not on me and I take it everywhere I go,” Buddy explained to Zane Lowe on Apple Music. “Everyone else just has to conform to the energy I’m bringing to the table. That’s what the album sounds like. My experience, from my perspective… the beat selection… its a bunch of different flows and cadences.”

A follow-up to 2018’s Harlan & Alondra (and his first project since 2020’s Janktape with Kent Jamz), Superghetto checks in at 10 tracks – including “Wait Too Long” with BLXST – and features T-Pain, Tinashe, and Ari Lennox.
