Here Are the 2022 Oscars Winners

Will Jane Campion’s The Power of the Dog, which entered Sunday night’s Oscars broadcast with 12 nominations, stand as the night’s big winner?

This is among the litany of debate-spurring questions film aficionados wrangled with ahead of the 94th Academy Awards ceremony, which is being broadcast from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood via ABC. For the first time since 2011, this year’s ceremony featured multiple hosts (Regina Hall, Wanda Sykes, and Amy Schumer) and is also unique in Academy history for its shortened eligibility period.

Joining Campion’s Thomas Savage adaptation in the Best Picture category was joined in the Best Picture category by a range of potential victors, including Ryûsuke Hamaguchi’s opus Drive My Car and the Timothée Chalamet-led Dune. 

Other highlights from the 2022 class of nominees included another Best Actor nod for Will Smith (for the King Richard biopic), a first-ever nod for Beyoncé, an EGOT opportunity for Lin-Manuel Miranda, and more. On the snubs side, many were surprised to see neither Lady Gaga (House of Gucci) nor Alana Haim (Licorice Pizza) scoring nods for their much-discussed performances.
