Google PlayA Toronto police officer has been arrested and is facing eight charges after allegedly stealing a missing person’s belongings.
After being assigned to a missing person’s case on Feb. 17, 48-year-old Constable Boris Borissov allegedly took possession of some of said missing person’s items, according to a Toronto Police Service press release. The items included the missing person’s debit card, which was then given to another man. That man then allegedly used the debit card to make a purchase at a store in Mississauga. After investigating the matter further, it’s also been alleged that both Borissov and the other man “fraudulently obtained motor vehicles.”
Borissov has been charged with the following: Theft, Three counts of Breach of Trust, Trafficking Credit Card, Use Credit Card in Commission of Offence, Attempt to Obstruct Justice, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Unauthorized Use of a Computer System, and Fraud. He has been with the force for 16 years, and has been suspended with pay as per the Police Services Act.
Borissov is set to appear in court on May 27 at 2 p.m., according to police.
