School Bus Driver Arrested After Footage Showing Him Repeatedly Hit Student on Bus Surfaces

A school bus driver in Louisiana was arrested after local authorities were notified of a video apparently showing him punching and kicking a student several times on the bus, WBRZ-TV reports. 

Jerome McNabb, 72, is currently being held in jail following the conclusion of an investigation into the video, which was conducted by the St. Helena Parish School District officials before getting transferred over to the sheriff’s office. 

“The St. Helena Parish School District is aware of the incident involving a bus driver and a learner that occurred today,” the school district said in a statement last week. “We immediately investigated the actions of the driver of the bus company that is contracted to transport our learners. A review of the video resulted in a referral of this matter to the St. Helena Parish Sheriff’s Office.”

Details regarding what led to McNabb allegedly striking the student is unclear. 

The sheriff’s office said Friday the student is back with their parents, but their condition is unknown. You can watch the video of the incident, which was presumably taken by another student on the bus below, but please be warned of the graphic nature of the footage.
