Police are searching for a woman who allegedly stole $200,000 worth of watches from a man she met at a Miami club.

The Miami Herald reports the 35-year-old man, who brought a woman who said her name was Cynthia back to his apartment for drinks after they met at a local nightclub, woke up on April 23 to discover his collection of watches missing.

The two were captured on surveillance video arriving at the man’s apartment building together around 1:30 a.m. Hours later, the woman was seen entering the elevator alone with an orange bag.

The man told police that the two had a few drinks and hung out at his apartment and that he eventually fell asleep. He claims that when he woke up at 10:30 a.m. the following morning but there was no sign of the woman and or his expensive watches.

“What we do know is the victim met this suspect at a nightclub. She presented herself as someone named Cynthia. She was a complete stranger to him,” Miami Police Officer Kiera Delva told CBS Miami.

“Once there they spoke more and had more drinks. He then fell asleep and woke up and realized she was gone as well as his pricey watches worth over $200,000,” Delva continued.

Delva went on to urge people to be careful of who they are meeting when encountering strangers at nightclubs.

“When you get to know someone or meet them for the first time, they are still considered to be a stranger, so we do not recommend you invite them up to your place or residence,” Delva shared. “Normally places have a lounge area where people can sit around or talk and that is what is recommended.”

Miami police are still investigating the alleged robbery.
