After getting himself involved in Kanye West’s divorce proceedings, D.L. Hughley has now decided to give the world his take on Young Thug and Gunna’s indictment.

On Monday, Thug and Gunna were revealed to be among 28 people associated with the record label Young Stoner Life who were charged in a 56-count indictment. The Punk artist was taken into custody after the home he was at was raided by authorities. Gunna, meanwhile, turned himself in on Wednesday. The two have been charged with conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO).

On Wednesday, Hughley shared his take on both his Twitter and Instagram, suggesting the rappers brought federal attention to themselves with their monikers.

“People seem to forget, the power of life and death is in the tongue!” wrote Hughley. “If you call yourself #Thug and #Gunna what you probably gonna do is go to jail!”

Thug is accused of renting a car that was utilized in the 2015 murder of 26-year-old Donovan Thomas, which also injured two others. Prosecutors have additionally accused two individuals in the indictment of asking Thug directly for permission to make an attempt on YFN Lucci’s life. The rapper was allegedly stabbed while incarcerated at Fulton County Jail in February.

Young Thug’s defense lawyer Brian Steel has denied the accusations. “I’ll tell you the response to any allegation: Mr. Williams committed no crime whatsoever and we will fight to my last drop of blood to clear him.”

Earlier this year, Hughley got himself embroiled in a beef with Ye after he suggested the multi-hyphenate was “stalking” his now-ex wife Kim Kardashian. In response, Ye suggested he could “afford to hurt” the comedian/actor.
