Seven people were injured following multiple shootings in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on Sunday, in what police are calling “related” incidents.

As reported by NBC News, Winston-Salem Police Department public information officer Kira Boyd shared that “preliminary information” indicates the shootings were related. The victims were left with “non-life threatening injuries.”

“This is an active, ongoing investigation and is not considered to be a random act of violence,” Boyd said.

Officers were first called to Bethlehem Lane at around 7:50 p.m. after reports of multiple shots fired, they told WXII-TV, before they discovered 50 spent shell casings from different weapons. Another call came in about two victims nearby, who were shot in the head and face. Police were then informed that four other people shot near Prince of Peace Baptist Church, also nearby. One of those victims refused medical attention while the three others—aged 21, 31, and 31—were brought to a hospital. A 24-year-old arrived at the hospital and was recognized as a seventh victim.

No details have been revealed on suspects, and the shooting occurred amid three other fatal incidents across the country. On Saturday, 10 people were killed and three others were wounded at a Buffalo supermarket, and at least 20 people were injured in Milwaukee following two shootings after an NBA game. Five people were injured and one was killed at Geneva Presbyterian Church in Laguna Woods in Southern California on Sunday,

President Joe Biden announced he will be traveling to Buffalo on Tuesday “to grieve with the community that lost 10 lives in a senseless and horrific mass shooting.”

“Jill and I pray for the victims, their families and devastated community from yesterday’s mass shooting in Buffalo, New York,” Biden wrote on Twitter over the weekend. “Our hearts are heavy once again but our resolve must not waver; we must work together to address the hate that remains a stain on the soul of this nation.”
