Google PlayAn Indiana woman is behind bars after she allegedly used an Apple AirTag to track her boyfriend to prove he was having an affair before killing him with her car.
According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by the Indianapolis Star, Gaylyn Ja-Nae Morris, 26, is reported to have followed her boyfriend Andre Smith to Tilly’s Pub in Indianapolis on Friday night before intentionally running him over three times with her vehicle.
A witness who spoke with Morris at the pub before the altercation told investigators she planned to use an empty wine bottle to beat up the other woman. Morris then admitted to said witness that she had used an Apple AirTag tracking device to follow Smith. Once Morris encountered Smith and the other woman inside the pub, Morris reportedly swung the bottle but the attack was blocked by Smith. Employees then told the party to exit the premises, which is when Morris retrieved her car.
When Smith entered the parking lot, Morris “pulled forward and clipped the victim (Smith), and he went down, at which time… (Morris) then backed over him and then pulled forward and hit him for the third time,” the affidavit read. Morris exited the vehicle and allegedly went back inside the eatery to attack the other woman, who was waiting for a food order.
Officers were called to the scene around 12:30 a.m. where they found Smith pinned underneath Morris’s vehicle. Medics soon pronounced him dead at the scene. The Marion County Coroner’s Office determined Smith died as a result of injuries sustained from being run over.
“I’m quite sure, since this is a pub and grill and it is late at night, that there are quite a few people who were here that left the scene because they didn’t want to get involved,” Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Captain Don Weilhammer said of the incident, according to Fox 5. “This is where we do need them to get involved, and call us, and get us any information they saw regarding this.”
Morris is currently being charged with murder, but the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office is still working to determine the final charges. She is being held at Marion County Jail.
