Jak Knight, Comedian and ‘Bust Down’ Star, Dead at 28

Stand-up-comedian, actor, and prolific comedy writer Jak Knight, who co-created and starred in Peacock’s Bust Down, has died aged 28.

Per the Hollywood Reporter, Knight died Thursday in Los Angeles. A cause of death has not been revealed. “Knight’s loved ones ask that their privacy please be respected during this extremely difficult time,” said an agency representative. He co-created the recent Peacock comedy Bust Down alongside comedians Sam Jay, Langston Kerman, and SNL’s Chris Redd.

Prior to the premiere of Bust Down earlier this year, Knight served as a writer on Lucas Bros Moving Co, Black-ish, and Big Mouth. He was also a writer on Pause with Sam Jay, which he also appeared in. Knight recently wrapped production on Chelsea Peretti’s debut directorial effort, First Time Female Director, alongside co-stars such as Megan Mullally, Amy Poehler, and Tim Heidecker.

As far as One of his stand-up sets was included as part of the Netflix series The Comedy Lineup in 2018. He toured extensively and opened for comedians including Dave Chappelle, Eric Andre, Aziz Ansari, and Joel McHale.

“We are devastated by the passing of Jak Knight,” said Bust Down production companies Peacock and Universal Television. “He was a brilliant comedian, visionary and artist and we were all lucky to experience his greatness. Our hearts are with Jak’s family, friends and community during this heartbreaking time.” Comedy Central also shared a tribute to Knight, calling him a “hysterial and honest comedian.”
