Jak Knight’s cause of death has been determined, just days after the comedians body was found on an embankment in L.A.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner has ruled that comedian Knight died after suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head, People reports. Knight’s family confirmed the news of his death Saturday. He was 28.

Knight was a prolific writer and comedian, who co-created and co-starred in the Peacock series Bust Down with Sam Jay, Langston Kerman, and Chris Redd.

“We are devastated by the passing of Jak Knight,” a statement from Peacock read. “He was a brilliant comedian, visionary and artist and we were all lucky to experience his greatness. Our hearts are with Jak’s family, friends and community during this heartbreaking time.”

Comedy Central, who named him a Comic to Watch in 2014, also paid tribute to the late comic.

Knight and Jay also worked together on her own series Pause with Sam Jay. His other credits include writing for the animated series Big Mouth and Lucas Bros. Moving Co., as well as penning an episode of Black-ish.

Knight recently wrapped up filming on First Time Female Director, the directorial debut of Chelsea Peretti.

He also opened for major acts like Dave Chappelle, Aziz Ansari, and Joel McHale.
