Man Allegedly Involved in Kim Kardashian Paris Robbery Says He Doesn’t Feel Guilty: ‘I Don’t Care’

One of the so-called “grandpa robbers” alleged to have been involved in the 2016 armed robbery of Kim Kardashian in Paris says he doesn’t feel guilty over the crime, although he does acknowledge he and his alleged co-conspirators inflicted on her.

Speaking with Vice’s Tir Dhondy for a recently released video documenting how social media is being utilized in crimes of this nature, Yunis Abbas—who previously made headlines in connection with a tell-all book—first explained the preparation process behind the 2016 robbery, which resulted in the alleged theft of millions of dollars’ worth of jewelry.

The man said he initially “went on the internet” and saw some of the jewelry in question, noting he and his alleged co-conspirators were aware Kim would be in Paris for Fashion Week festivities and were closely following related developments.

“We got in through the little door that was open on the inside,” he said. “As soon as we got in, we took control of the concierge. We overpowered him. We tied him up. But then we looked for the keys for the bedroom she stayed in. I stayed downstairs but my two colleagues went upstairs with the converge to go to Ms. Kardashian’s room. Then they picked up the jewelry, they went downstairs.”

At that point, Yunis said, someone associated with Kim “called 911 in the United States,” which scared them but inadvertently caused local authorities to lose crucial response time. He was ultimately caught due to him having left DNA at the scene while typing up the guard.

Yunis also said he “didn’t really know” Kim Kardashian but was more aware of Kanye West, to whom she was married at the time.

“I thought, ‘She’s got a lot of money. That lady doesn’t care at all,’” he said.

Asked directly whether he now feels “guilty” about the robbery, Yunis confirmed he did not.

“Since she was throwing money away, I was there to collect it, and that was that,” he said. “Guilty? No, I don’t care. I don’t care.”

As for whether he believes she was “traumatized” by the robbery, which is an aspect of the crime Kim herself has spoken about publicly, Yunis said she “no doubt” was and asserted that no one comes out “unscathed” after such an experience.

“Of course, she must have been traumatized. I don’t doubt it,” Yunis, who also shared advice for other public figures (including to be “less showy” in terms of wealth), said.

In November, per the Associated Press, it was revealed that 12 people are now set to stand trial in connection with the 2016 robbery. At the time, a trial start date had not been confirmed.
