Stacey Dash has been trending on social media after confessing she just learned about the tragic death of DMX, who died in April 2021 after suffering a cocaine-induced heart attack.

Dash took to Instagram on Monday to share an emotional video in which she expressed her devastation about DMX’s death, as the Clueless actress opened up about her past battle with addiction.

“I was strolling through #tiktok and found a #DMX song that has saved me many times,” Dash captioned the video. “Suddenly it says #RIP i know I am late, i did not know he passed away, he #OD I am heartbroken – he was such a great guy.”

“I’m ashamed. I didn’t know DMX died. I didn’t know from a cocaine overdose,” she said in the tear-filled video. “I am, today, six years and one month clean, and it breaks my heart. It breaks my heart that he lost to it. He lost. He lost to that demon…. Please, please don’t lose.”

This isn’t the first time Dash has been candid about her sobriety.

During an appearance on The Dr. Oz Show last October, the 55-year-old actress spoke about her road to recovery, revealing at one point she was taking between 18 and 20 Vicodin pills per day.

“That’s what stopped me. I almost died,” Dash recalled. “My kidneys were so infected that my blood was septic, and my organs were shutting down. So, I got rushed to the hospital and I had to have a full blood transfusion and I was in there for three weeks. And by the grace and mercy of god, I lived.”

She added, “The greatest blessing is that not only have I been able to be honest with myself and become a better person. I’ve been able to understand my parents and that they did love me, and that they were doing the best they could and they were just sick. They were addicted.”
