Benny the Butcher & B$F Release ‘Long Live DJ Shay’ Project

First off, long live DJ Shay!

Back in August of last year, the Buffalo-based DJ/producer sadly passed away at the age of 48. Born Demetrius Chawton Robinson, Shay was a heavy supporter of the Griselda and Black Soprano Family movements. On top of producing for the crew, anytime you saw Conway the Machine, Westside Gunn, and Benny the Butcher, there wasn’t a doubt Shay was right beside them.

Putting Buffalo on the map was a big part of his doing and to honor his legacy, Benny and B$F have decided to record and release a new project in his memory called Long Live DJ Shay.

“Long Live DJ Shay! We put so much into this knowing he is watching down on us, and I know this is gonna wake everyone up,” Benny the Butcher states. “B$F is the biggest. I promise you we them ones. The album is top-notch; from production to the rhymes and it’s entirely mixed by the legendary Young Guru, so I know it’s gone pop out ya speakers the right way.”

Equipped with 14 tracks, the project features contributions from B$F’s own Benny, Rick Hyde, Heem, and Loveboat Luciano, as well as Conway the Machine, Westside Gunn, Stove God Cooks, DJ Premier (“Times Is Rough“), Alchemist, Boldy James, Krayzie Bone, Cory Gunz, ElCamino, Armani Caesar, Jansport J, and a few others. Oh, and did I mention Young Guru handled the mix?! Yeah.
