Joyner Lucas to Make His Acting Debut Opposite Mark Wahlberg

Joyner Lucas can now add “actor” to his résumé.

The 34-year-old recording artist has landed a starring role in an upcoming Mark Wahlberg flick. Lucas announced the gig via Instagram on Friday, sharing a photo of him and the Boogie Nights star on set. Though Lucas hasn’t revealed any details about the project, fans suspect his role will be quite significant, as he’s expected to spend the next several months filming. 

“I got a starring role In my first MOVIE 🎥 wit one of my best friends. @markwahlberg,” he wrote in the caption. “Shooting for a few months. This is the acting transition that I always dreamed of and I owe it to you. 🙏🏽 love you buddy.”

Wahlberg took to the comments section to share a few words of encouragement.

“You got the skills buddy,” wrote the actor, who personally cast Lucas. “Time to do the work.”

The film will reportedly premiere between 2023-2024.

The Massachusetts natives reportedly developed a friendship last year, when Lucas tapped Wahlberg to appear in his star-studded music video for “Zim Zimma,” which also included cameos by Diddy and George Lopez.

Lucas recently wrapped up his ADHD Tour with special guest Symba. He reflected on the trek in a lengthy Instagram post earlier this month.

“I’m doing all this independently with absolutely NO RECORD LABEL,” he wrote. “I even bought my own tour busses and semi trucks out my pocket so I don’t have to rent them anymore. I’m not saying all this to brag, but more so to motivate and educate. I come from a little city called Worcester, Massachusetts. Wasn’t no opportunities for n***az like me. I had to get it out the mud. I wanted everyone who came to the ADHD TOUR to walk away with an experience. To anybody who’s ever streamed or purchased my music, bought a merch item or came to my shows, I want to let you know I love you and I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you. I love seeing all your faces in that crowd singing every word.”

He concluded the message by teasing an album that’ll drop next year. His last full-length project was 2020’s ADHD.
