The first trailer for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts has arrived.

Directed by Steven Caple Jr., the latest live-action Transformers film takes things back to the past once again and serves as a follow-up to 2018’s Bumblebee. Shifting from the setting of ‘80s California to an early ‘90s globe-trotting adventure, Rise of the Beasts sees the focus return to Optimus Prime. The movie, which promises to incorporate elements and characters from the 1996 Beast Wars: Transformers TV series, is set to debut in theaters on June 9, 2023.

The cast includes Anthony Ramos, Dominique Fishback, Luna Lauren Vélez, and Tobe Nwigwe. On the voice acting side for the iconic Transformers, Peter Cullen once again voices Optimus, while Pete Davidson joins the cast as Mirage, and Michelle Yeoh as Airazor. Also starring is Grey Friggin, Sebastian Maniscalco, and Ron Perlman.

In an interview speaking about the connection with Beast Wars last year, Ramos said he was very excited when he first read the script. “Beast Wars was my joint, that was the one for me. I was [in front of the TV] every week watching Beast Wars,” Ramos said, per People. “So when I read the script, I saw we were gonna have them in the movie, my head almost exploded off of my body.”

Paramount has plans to keep the franchise going after Rise of the Beasts hits theaters, as the company has already confirmed it’ll be the first in a trilogy of movies. The next in the series is set to arrive in July, 2024, although the follow-up has yet to get a confirmed date.
