Twitter Reacts to Toronto’s “Winter is Coming and So Are We” Pamphlet

While Toronto is known for its harsh winters and aggressive snowfall, it’s understandable that the local government would send out a pamphlet to ensure people stay ready for any potential storms.

The cover of the pamphlet featured the famous “Winter is Coming” tagline from HBO’s Game of Thrones, but the City of Toronto also added an extra bit to end the sentence making it substantially more sexually suggestive than it should ever be.

Of course, such a gaffe will always cause a storm of memes on Twitter and Torontonians were quick to make fun of the copywriting ordeal.

The Ottawa Public Health Twitter account was quick to jump on the jokes, jokingly complaining that they could no longer use that slogan for their new safe sex campaign.

Another one compared it to a typography blunder where a card that reads “For A Special Aunt” almost looks like something else.

Some people were more curious to hear about what they meant and thought that maybe Toronto wasn’t such a bad place.

Finally, some people agree that all taglines should be proofread by a group of teenagers to make sure there are no hidden meanings.

Environment Canada says nearly 10 cm’s of snow is expected to land by Friday morning in Toronto.
