Grocery Store Manager Shot in Face After Dispute With Customer Over Gravy

A manager at a grocery store in Philadelphia was shot in the face over the weekend after a dispute with two customers over gravy. 

Fox 29 reports the incident took place last Sunday at a Save A Lot at 6301 Chew Avenue. Surveillance footage captured two customers, a man and a woman, arguing with the manager and a security guard. 

According to WCAU-TV, the argument stemmed from the store not having the can of gravy the customers wanted. The woman pulled out a firearm but was disarmed by the guard, who subsequently escorted both customers outside. 

After leaving, the pair rushed back in to confront staff again about the gravy. This time, the man shot the manager directly in the face, leaving him in critical condition.

“The male withdrew a firearm from his person, pointed that firearm at the security guard, where he attempted to diffuse the situation and get the two out of the store,” said Captain James Kearney of Philadelphia police’s non-fatal shooting unit.

Kearney added, “During this second altercation, the male suspect shot the manager point-blank in the face, leaving him in critical condition.”

The suspects are still at large.
