Cara Delevingne is opening up about her sobriety.

The 30-year-old supermodel sat down with Vogue this week for the magazine’s April 2023 cover story, which sees Delevingne shed light on her sobriety journey. Delevingne admits that her rock bottom took place last fall, when paparazzi captured the model acting erratically at the airport.

Regarding the photos, Delevingne says she was coming back from the Burning Man festival, and “not OK” due to lack of sleep.

“It’s heartbreaking because I thought I was having fun, but at some point, it was like, ‘OK, I don’t look well,’” she shared. “So in a way, those pictures were something to be grateful for.” While Delevingne admits that drugs made her feel “invincible,” she’s aware that her issues were a “scary thing to the people” who care about her well-being.

After some soul searching, Delevingne, who previously had experienced “interventions of sorts,” checked herself into rehab in late 2022.

“I wasn’t ready,” she recalled. “That’s the problem. If you’re not face-first on the floor and ready to get up again, you won’t. At that point, I really was.”

“All I knew is if I was continuing to go down the road I was, I would either end up dead or, like, doing something really, really stupid,” she added.

Delevingne credits the 12-step treatment program with making  “a huge difference” in her life. “I still have a lot of energy, but it’s not erratic,” she said. “I’m calmer. I’m stiller.”
