A suspect is dead following a school shooting in Nashville.
While details on the shooting remained scarce at the time of this writing, it occurred Monday morning at the Covenant School, a private Christian school in the Green Hills area of the city that serves children ranging in age from pre-school to 6th grade. Residents first heard a swarm of sirens, followed shortly after by several helicopters, before official word was provided by local authorities.
Following word from the Nashville Fire Department that there were “multiple patients,” a spokesperson from a local hospital told NBC News that three “pediatric patients” who had been taken to the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt with gunshot wounds had all been “pronounced dead after arrival.”
In a prior update, the Metro Nashville Police Department said that the shooter had been killed. See more below from local outlet WKRN.
