A 12-year-old is being charged as an adult after being accused of killing a Milwaukee man to steal his guns.

The Wisconsin boy, whose name was not revealed because of his age, allegedly carried out the murder of 34-year-old Brandon Felton inside his home. According to police, the motive was because Felton wouldn’t sell weapons to the child. The boy then plotted with two other people to steal the guns, including an AR-15 style rifle, Fox 6 News and CNN reported.

The incident happened earlier this month on March 15. Police were able to tie the boy to the shooting after finding a pizza receipt at Felton’s home near 38th and Townsend. The pizza was delivered to the home and the number on the receipt was for the boy’s cell phone, who answered when police called the number.

After making inconsistent statements to police that denied ordering the pizza or any involvement in the homicide, the boy allegedly confessed to his mother. A search warrant obtained by police pulled phone records and found text messages sent by the boy telling his friend he had a gun and asking “should I kill him (right now)?” The friend replied, “don’t let him know we coming.” Police also were able to track the boy’s phone at Felton’s home.

In his court appearance on Monday, the boy’s bond was set at $100,000. A preliminary hearing will happen on April 4.
