Google PlayToronto Blue Jays pitcher Anthony Bass took to Twitter yesterday to complain about a United Airlines flight attendant forcing his pregnant wife to clean up after their kids’ mess on a flight.
The public complaint, which received thousands of replies from people calling him out for not wanting to clean up the mess, showed Bass’ two kids playing on their tablets with multiple popcorn kernels scattered across the floor.
One person replied to the original tweet asking Bass who should be responsible for cleaning up after his kids’ mess, to which he answered “The cleaning crew they hire!”
Many more tweets criticized Bass’ parenting skills, though he answered a few of them telling one person they are “the perfect parents” and that they “can do no wrong.”
Some users said Bass should not have provided his kids with popcorn though his final comment regarding the situation explained that United gave his kids the snack and not him.
A few hours after Bass issued his final clarification on the incident, he returned to Twitter to explain that United Airlines had brought the matter up to the flight attendant in question and was handling it internally.
Bass is in his first full season for the Jays after arriving from Miami midseason in 2022. The reliever has a 7.11 ERA in 6 1/3 innings so far.
