Get ready for another Madlib Invasion.

Back in 2010, Madlib launched his Madlib Invasion imprint and proceeded to release a collection of 13 projects as part of his his Madlib Medicine Show series. Fast forward a decade, the prolific producer is now gearing up for another takeover with plans of releasing a new album every month this year. Starting now, with Sound Ancestors.

Officially billed as “music by Madlib” and “edited, arranged and mastered by Kieran Hebden” (also known as Four Tet), Sound Ancestors is a culmination of tracks, loops, ideas and sound experiments Madlib had sent to Hebden throughout the years that he pieced together to form a beautiful marriage of jazz, funk, Reggae toasts, lo-fi riffs, guitar and drum loops, psychedelic soul, ’60s rock textures, and a few other tricks they schemed up.

Led by “Road of the Lonely Ones” and “Dirtknock,” the album spans 16 tracks and can be heard below. Press play and be sure to add Madlib and Four Tet’s Sound Ancestors wherever you consume music.
