Watch Finn Wolfhard Field ‘Stranger Things’ and ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’ Questions on ‘Fallon’

With the long-awaited fourth season of the Duffer brothers’ Stranger Things expected to premiere at some point next year, it’s no surprise to see the stars of the enthusiastically obsessed-over series still being inundated with questions about the extended production.

Monday, Finn Wolfhard—who plays Mike Wheeler on the Netflix hit—was tasked with avoiding key answers during an appearance on The Tonight Show.

“What I can say is we just finished shooting and it was day 300,” the actor, next seen in a pandemic-delayed Ghostbusters sequel, said. “Yeah, we shot for 300 days. The audience claps [but] none of the crew was clapping. They were like, ‘Cool, guys. We’ll leave.’ It’s great. It was a long [shoot].”

Wolfhard added that he’s glad the Duffers “still care” after doing the show after several years, noting that many creators in such a position tend to instead “cash in” and check out.

“They really still care,” he said.

As for what we can expect in Season 4, Wolfhard couldn’t offer much other than vowing that the new season is “gonna be really messed up.” He also managed to maintain a commendable poker face when asked directly by Jimmy Fallon about what happened to Hopper, the relationship between Mike and Eleven, Eleven’s powers, and the Creel family.

Fellow Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp, meanwhile, appeared to confirm last month that filming on the new season had indeed wrapped.

Deeper into the interview, Wolfhard was asked about “rebooting” the Ghostbusters franchise, prompting a correction from the actor that next month’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife is actually more of a “direct sequel” than a reboot. He also confirmed that he was able to meet members of the original franchise cast, with particular attention paid to Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd.

“That’s what’s crazy,” he said around four minutes into the video up top. “It’s like being in the room with, like, the apostles or something. I don’t know if that makes sense but it’s weird. It’s like seeing, like, Bill leading the charge.”

Elsewhere, Wolfhard talked about his upcoming new album with his band The Aubreys. And in another clip, he played through a round of “True Confessions” with Chelsea Handler.
