Items belonging to Brian Laundrie, a person of interest in the death of fiancée Gabby Petito, were found Wednesday on a Florida trail as the FBI continues its search for the missing suspect.
ABC 7 reports Laundrie’s parents’ attorney Stephen Bertolino confirmed the news in a statement.
“Chris and Roberta Laundrie went to the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park this morning to search for Brian,” Bertolino said. “The FBI and NPPD were informed last night of Brian’s parents’ intentions and they met Chris and Roberta there this morning. After a brief search off a trail that Brian frequented some articles belonging to Brian were found. As of now law enforcement is conducting a more thorough investigation of that area.”
According to CNN, the Sarasota County Medical Examiner’s Office and cadaver dogs have been called to the North Port park where authorities are searching for Laundrie.
The potential discovery of items belonging to Laundrie arrives over a month after his parents say their son went for a hike in the Carlton Reserve on Sept. 13 and never returned, sparking a national manhunt.
