A shooting at Boise Towne Square Mall in Idaho has left two dead, and several others injured, Idaho News reports.

According to the Boise Police Department’s Twitter account, six people were injured, including an officer.

Idaho News reports there was only one known shooter responsible for the incident, and that they been taken into custody. Police are unaware of a possible motive behind the shooting.

Boise Police Chief Ryan Lee said authorities were responding to reports of shots fired at the mall when they located a person who matched the description of the suspect, and “an exchange of gun fire” ensued. The officer was injured during this exchange.

“Those injured in today’s unthinkable shooting at the Boise Towne Square Mall are in my prayers,” Idaho Gov. Brad Little said. “The State of Idaho stands prepared to assist the Boise Police Department as they investigate the shooting.”

“I cannot stress enough how traumatic this event is for the community at large as well as those who are witnesses or the families involved…,” Lee said. “We ask the community at large keep the families of the deceased in their thoughts and they also respect their privacy.”

“As we learn more about the events that unfolded this afternoon at Boise Towne Square, my heart goes out to the retail workers and security personnel who responded quickly and tried to keep customers and coworkers safe,” Boise City council member Holli Woodings said on Twitter.
