Euphoria fans, rejoice. HBO has finally unveiled the first official trailer for season 2.
In it, Zendaya returns as Rue Bennett, and is joined by other familiar faces as she “must find hope while balancing the pressures of love, loss, and addiction,” per a series synopsis. The clip features familial arguments, a suitcase full of drugs, and enough tension to give fans a reason to tune in when the show’s latest season premieres on Jan. 9 on HBO—with new episodes dropping weekly.
The return of Sam Levinson drama series—which was supposed to be filmed in March 2020 before a pandemic push-back—will see plenty of participants outside of the Emmy-winning superstar leading the charge, including Hunter Schafer, Nika King, Eric Dane, Angus Cloud, Jacob Elordi, Algee Smith, Sydney Sweeney, Alexa Demie, Barbie Ferreira, Maude Apatow, Javon Walton, Dominic Fike, Storm Reid, and Austin Abrams.
In between her work on Euphoria and Spider-Man: No Way Home—a film that just secured the third best domestic opening weekend ever with $253 million in ticket sales—Zendaya opened up to Interview for a recent cover story, explaining that she also might see a future behind the camera. She even has some directorial ideas in mind, including eventually creating a “simple love story about two Black girls.”
“I’ve never really thought, ‘I have to do this by this time and I want to do this by that time,’” Zendaya said. “I just want to do the things that make me happy and bring me joy and fulfill me as an artist, as a person. So, I keep that loose, because if one day it turns into a completely different career path, then I would allow myself to do that. The idea of trying to direct in the future excites me. That’s why I’m on set so much. When I’m not in it, I’m right there trying to learn.”
