Tiffany Haddish Was ‘Very Disappointed’ by Common’s Comments About Their Breakup

Common recently indicated that he and Tiffany Haddish split after a year together because their schedules were too busy to match-up, but she said that’s not what he told her.

In an interview with Jason Lee from Hollywood Unlocked, Haddish gave her side of the story and disputed some of her ex’s comments. In the initial interview, also with Jason Lee, Common described Haddish as “one of the best-hearted and most authentic and caring people that I’ve met in life.” He said that once the two of them “got back on the move” to pursue their careers, their schedules didn’t allow them to put the necessary attention and effort into their relationship.

“It really didn’t allow for us to spend as much time and put as much energy into our relationship. I don’t think the love really dispersed… We weren’t feeding the relationship,” he said. Haddish did not publicly announce she was single, and instead their split was confirmed via a report last month.

“I’m fine with it,” said Haddish in her first interview discussing the split. “I miss him. I miss him from time to time, but that’s with any relationship you might have. You miss them, but I’m fine with it. It’s cool.” Asked directly what she thought about his reasoning for the breakup, she sighed and said she was thinking “the same thing everybody else was in them comments.”

“He might be the type of person that never really settles with somebody, maybe he’s like, you know, like a bee going from flower to flower to flower. I don’t know,” she continued. “I wish him nothing but joy and happiness, you know. He will always be cool.” Haddish said that when she first heard his public comments she was “disappointed” in him.

“I was very disappointed,” she said. “I was like, ‘Oh, Okay.’ ‘Cause that’s not what you told me, but Okay.’” As for why they really broke up, she replied, “That’s between us.”
