Google PlayWhile the country is grappling with a surge of the new Omicron variant of COVID-19, LaKeith Stanfield is trying to lighten the mood.
The Atlanta actor took to Instagram the day after Christmas to share a DM he sent to Omarion joking that the singer was screwing up everyone’s holiday.
“you ruining Christmas for everybody smh,” the 30-year-old wrote to Omarion.
Stanfield playfully captioned his message, “I’m weak i wonder if he’s gunna respond.”
The actor is referencing a popular meme that links Omarion’s name with the Omicron variant because they sound somewhat similar. Kehlani, Bria Myles, HaHa Davis, and others shared laughing emojis in the comments sections of Stanfield’s post.
Omarion has definitely caught onto the joke, with the artist taking to IG days before Stanfield and reposting some of the memes he’s seen about himself.
“I can’t stand y’all,” he wrote in the caption. “Happy holidays. … Sending love & healing energy to all. ❤️🔥🎯✨. #omicron not #Omarion 🧘🏾♂️✨🙅🏾♂️🦠.”
Vaccinating up during this time is incredibly important. As of Dec. 20, the CDC has cited that the new COVID variant has been spotted in most states and is spreading faster than the original SARS-CoV-2 virus. It is also being reported that the current batch of COVID vaccines have been doing well at battling the variant, so stay safe as we head into the new year by masking up, social distancing, and getting vaccinated.
