This week, Netflix shared Act 1 of the Coodie & Chike-directed jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy, giving fans a moving and intimate look at the artist formerly known as Kanye West during some of the most pivotal moments of his pre-College Dropout career.

One scene that’s received considerable attention since the doc’s premiere shows Ye playing a version of “All Falls Down” to various disinterested individuals at the Roc-A-Fella offices. Amid the ensuing commentary brought on by a clip of the scene in question being shared to Twitter, Wayne “Wayno” Clark—who previously worked as an assistant A&R at the label and co-hosted Complex’s Everyday Struggle—shared his own recollections of Ye in this era.

“Lmao the context behind this is he played this song in the office and did this with a camera crew like 10x , how many times can you have a crazy reaction to something you’ve heard 10x it was kind of annoying at that point,” the Triangle Offense founder, who recently joined Quality Control as VP of A&R, said.

In subsequent tweets, Wayno argued that people in the offices weren’t accustomed to such frequent video recording and stated that “nobody at Roc disliked Kanye.” He also made a point to mention Ramses Francois, a Roc-A-Fella alum, by name.

See more from Wayno below. The next act in the jeen-yuhs trilogy, titled “PURPOSE,” is set to hit Netflix on Feb. 23. That same week, Ye will present his Donda Experience Performance in Miami. As previously reported, a rep for Ye has told Complex that the Feb. 22 Donda 2-focused event will be an outright live performance, not a listening event.
