Google PlayA 36-year-old man who was charged with murder in Queensland, Australia claims he sawed off a 66-year-old’s leg as part of an “arrangement.”
The two men allegedly drove to a park in Queensland together, where the amputation took place, per the Independent. The accused murderer and victim sat under a tree, and around 4 a.m. local time the former began to saw off the latter’s leg below the knee using a battery-powered circular saw. The man helped the victim to the car they’d driven to the scene, at which point witnesses called emergency services.
The 66-year-old died shortly after the amputation, and the accused man was tracked down by authorities the same day. According to authorities he was charged with one count of murder in connection with the incident.
“Police will allege these two people were known to each other, the extent of that relationship is still forming part of our investigations,” said Queensland Police Detective Acting Inspector Gary Hunter. “Police also believe there was an arrangement between the two people for the amputation of the leg. We can say this was not an unprovoked attack.”
It’s unclear what sort of “arrangement” the two had, but the detective said “the specific reasons and the arrangement are subject to inquiries by detectives.” He added, “During my 34 years as a police officer I’ve never experienced a situation as we are presented with here today.”
