Nick Cannon’s eponymous daytime talk show has been canceled in its first season.

As Variety reported, the Nick Cannon Show staff were told on Thursday that they’re not getting picked up for another year. That wound up being the last day of production, but enough episodes have already been pre-taped that it will continue to air until May.

According to insiders close to the production, it was previously planned to put the show on a five-week hiatus due to all the projects Cannon has lined up. Besides his talk show, he’s also the host of Wild ’N Out and The Masked Singer, which just launched its seventh season.

Produced and distributed by Lionsgate’s Debmar-Mercury, the Nick Cannon Show premiered in September 2021. The show was originally scheduled to debut in 2020 but was put on hold after Cannon shared anti-Semitic comments on his Cannon’s Class podcast.

“It’s never easy to cancel a production with clear potential, but after a great deal of deliberation and examining various options, we have made the difficult business decision to end production on Nick Cannon,” said Debmar-Mercury co-presidents Mort Marcus and Ira Bernstein of the cancelation. “We plan to offer viewers original episodes of the daytime talk show through the remainder of this season. Our thanks go to the very talented Nick Cannon and our wonderful production team, and we wish Nick continued success with his many hit ventures.”

During the talk show’s brief run, a bundle of news and updates about Cannon came directly from himself. In January, he announced on air that he was expecting his eighth child with girlfriend Bre Tiesi. And last month, he explained why he released a new song about his ex-wife Mariah Carey.
