Tina Knowles-Lawson Recalls Blue Ivy Helping Her Get Ready for Acting Role

Blue Ivy Carter can add acting coach to her ever-growing yet already impressive resume.

Tina Knowles-Lawson told Tamron Hall on her self-titled talk show that she needed someone to help her prepare for her role in the Lifetime movie Wrath: A Seven Deadly Sins Story, but since everyone was unavailable, including her actor and acting coach husband Richard Lawson, she turned to Blue Ivy for help. Coming off her cameo in Beyoncé’s performance of “Be Alive” at last month’s Oscars, Blue was luckily able to fit her grandmother in her busy schedule.

She remembers Blue Ivy questioning whether acting was a good idea whenever she would mess up a line, telling her, “Grandma, I don’t know if this is for you,” to which she responded, “Thank you Blue for making me really insecure.” She acknowledged that her granddaughter’s primary concern was making sure she got the lines perfect.

Knowles-Lawson said her co-star and Destiny’s Child member Michelle Williams also helped her while they were on the set. “Between the two of them, they coached you into perfection,” Hall responded.

This past December, Blue Ivy took home the Best Voiceover – Children’s Audiobook award for her narration of the Matthew A. Cherry book Hair Love at the 2021 Voice Arts Awards. Three months earlier, she became the youngest person to win an MTV Video Music Award at only 9 years old. And if that wasn’t impressive enough, Blue also won a Grammy last year for her work on “Brown Skin Girl.”
