Google PlayLauren Ambrose, who currently stars in Apple TV+’s psychological horror series Servant, recently fired her longtime manager after receiving an inadvertent voicemail that discussed her being “difficult” on set.
Page Six reports Ambrose axed her talent manager, Perri Kipperman, back in December, after Kipperman “inadvertently” left Ambrose an “unprofessional and inappropriate” voicemail in which she was heard discussing a rumor that the actress was “difficult” on the set of Servant.
Following her dismissal, Kipperman threatened to sue Ambrose should she not pay her the 10 percent commission for Ambrose’s role on Servant. Ambrose subsequently filed a lawsuit in Manhattan Federal Court, requesting that a judge determine that she didn’t owe Kipperman any money.
“Ms Kipperman was recounting the story that she heard, and that was all recorded on Lauren’s voicemail … The goal was to bring this to Lauren’s attention and figure out what to do with it,” Ambrose’s attorney Andrew Brettler told the outlet.
Brettler went on to admit that whether or not Kipperman did in fact discuss the rumor in the aforementioned voicemail, “it doesn’t give you the right to not honor your contract.”
Prior to her role as Dorothy Turner in Servant, Ambrose starred as Claire Fisher in HBO’s Six Feet Under, for which she was nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards. Most recently, Ambrose played the lead role of Eliza Doolittle in the revival of My Fair Lady on Broadway.
