Calvin Harris Re-Ups With ‘Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2’ Album

“I want the layers and the grit and the dirt. I want to feel it in my chest.”

Calvin Harris‘ fifth album, 2017’s Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1, was a welcome return to form for the Scottish producer, as he put the EDM to the left for a guest-heavy project full of groove-laden boogies reminiscent of his earlier works. Taking another break from his electronic side, he has now released the second volume.

“This album is for car journeys, and beaches and things like this,” Harris said to Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. “What I was doing a lot was taking trips to the mountains. This is when I still lived in LA. Taking a trip out to this place called Idyllwild in the car, listening to a lot of psychedelic rock and then climbing the mountain, literally, and figuratively, and then heading back. So I was doing a lot of that, putting a lot of vinyl, getting to that kind of zone, you know?”

A 14-track effort, Vol. 2 is led by the singles “New Money,” “Potion,” and “Stay With Me.” The album also features a star-studded plethora of musicians: Pusha T, Lil Durk, Justin Timberlake, Pharrell, 21 Savage, Young Thug, 6lack, Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, Swae Lee, Jorja Smith, Latto, Tinashe, Normani, Offset, Halsey, Stefflon Don, Chlöe, Dua Lipa, Shenseea, Coi Leray, and Charlie Puth.
