On what would have been his 37th birthday (August 15), Nipsey Hussle was honored with a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles, in the category of Recording.

Several of Hussle’s closest friends and family members were in attendance for the commemoration, while Lauren London, Nipsey’s sister Samantha Smith, father Dawit Asghedom, and grandmother Margaret Boutte accepted the honor on behalf of him. Los Angeles City Councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson also declared that Hussle’s August 15th birthday will be celebrated as “Nipsey Hussle Day” in the city as well.

Later in 2022, the Los Angeles Metro will honor Hussle by dedicating its upcoming Hyde Park K Line Station to him. The K Line, also referred to as the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project, is officially expected to open before the year’s end. “After he caught the vision and he understood what the train would mean to this community and his neighborhood and businesses like his, he got very involved in making sure that this train worked on behalf of our people and helped us express and live out our possibilities and our hopes and our dreams,” Harris-Dawson said.
