Google PlayA 24-year-old man has appeared in court after he stabbed two police officers, once of which was repeatedly knifed in the neck and chest, in Central London on Friday.
Appearing at Wimbledon Crown Court, Mohammed Rahman was charged with two offences, including the attempted murder of a male police constable, Pc Gerrard, and the alleged attack on a female officer, referred to in court as Pc Mulhall, who was stabbed in the arm.
He has also been charged with assault and two counts of threatening a person in a public place with a bladed article, as well as robbery and possession of a bladed article, The Independent reports.
Dressed in a prison-issued grey sweatshirt, Rahman was led to the docks by two officers and spoke only to confirm his name, address date of birth during a short hearing.
On Saturday, the Met Police confirmed that Pc Mulhall had been discharged from hospital, while Pc Gerrard remained under medical supervision. Both officers, who were responsible for policing Westminster during the Queen’s funeral, had been carrying out routine duties at the time.
Rahman, of Notting Hill, London, will make a further appearance at the Old Bailey on October 14, and will remain in custody in the meantime.
