Google PlayIn a heroic moment captured on camera, a child in China was seen dangling out of a building before being rescued by their daring neighbor, who shimmied across the 7-story building to retrieve them.
The footage, which was shared by TMZ, shows a young child in South China’s city of Foshan with their head caught between a metal post. Their entire body can be seen dangling out the other end, with the metal post being the only object keeping them from plummeting down the 7-story apartment complex. In the video, people can be heard crying out for help, which comes in the form of the chikld’s neighbor.
The man hops out of his patio gate and begins to shimmy across the outside of the building over to where the child is dangling. He then helps to push the child back through the bars and seemingly alerts a woman on the other side of the balcony who helps him get the child back inside safely. He then begins to shimmy back across to his own apartment.
The daring rescue effort from the good samaritan comes after a similar situation unfolded in France back in 2018. In that instance, a young Malian immigrant named Mamoudou Gassama scaled four floors of an apartment building to rescue a child dangling off the edge. As a result of his bravery, Gassama was made a French citizen and offered a job at the Paris fire brigade. He was also invited to Élysée Palace by President Emmanuel Marcon, where he was given a certificate and a gold medal to commemorate his act of courage.
When Macron asked what made him attempt such a feat, Gassama said: “I didn’t think about it, I climbed up and God helped me.”
