Google PlayCars and sneakers have a lot in common. Why? Because they’re both all about the silhouette and the colorway. Add NASCAR to the mix, and the design, color, engine, and precision of the paint job on your vehicle is worth more than you could imagine. And for those who look close enough, you can catch a subtle design or marking left by the creator. That’s why NASCAR driver Noah Gragson is as serious about his race car game as he is with his shoe collection.
Gragson is the first driver in 39 years to win four races in a row during the NASCAR Xfinity Playoffs. He not only has 12 career victories and has the single-season record for most wins by a JR Motorsports driver, but the Las Vegas-born racer is moving up to the NASCAR Cup Series full-time beginning in February. But if you think that’s impressive, just imagine how we felt when we peeped the custom Freddy Krueger low-tops on his social media. And when you put those two passions together, the result looks something like a custom sneaker collab between Gragson and designer and customizer Sierato.
Working together over video, Gragson tells Sierato, “I’ve always always had wild and crazy, bright paint schemes over the years on my racecars,” in hopes that the shoes can follow suit with a custom design sure to stand out. It’s an easy ask for Siretao, who pitches creating a sneaker that’s brought to life with every color Gragson has ever used on his race cars.
The final product comes together with colorful panels, blue bolts of lightning, and Gragson’s race numbers and initials. And the pair of sneakers are as bold as Gragson’s driving.
