Jayden Myrick, an associate of Young Thug’s YSL collective, has been convicted of murder in a case unrelated to the larger one that has been underway since May.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the 22-year-old was found guilty Thursday in connection to the fatal shooting of Christian Broder. The incident took place in July 2018, when the victim was shot outside the Capital City Country Club in Atlanta. Investigators say Broder was a DC restaurant manager who had traveled to Georgia for a wedding. He and his family were reportedly outside the venue waiting for an Uber when Myrick and three others allegedly pulled up and robbed them of their wallets, cell phones, and $100 in cash.

Prosecutors say Broder attempted to reason with the group and followed them to their car. It was at that point Myrick allegedly opened fire on Broder, wounding him in the stomach. Myrick, who was 17 at the time, was arrested on July 13, 2018 and charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. The charges were upgraded one week later, after Broder died from his injuries.

On Thursday, Myrick—who denied shooting Broder—was found guilty of multiple felony counts, including murder, armed robbery, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, and criminal gang activity. He was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

During the trial, Myrick opened up about his gang affiliations as well as his ties to YSL. He was also named in the 56-count indictment that charged Thug, Gunna, and other YSL associates of criminal gang activity and racketeering. As noted, the Broder case is unrelated to these charges.

Myrick also told the court he was affiliated with Nine Trey Gangsters and is a current member of 4PF—the name of Lil Baby’s record label. Though Lil Baby and his crew are not facing a RICO case, many suspect they could be targeted. Those concerns were fueled earlier this year, when the Fulton County district attorney announced Atlanta would see more high-profile RICO cases before the end of summer.

Lil Baby responded to fans’ warnings via Twitter in July, writing, “Only god can judge me.”
